Description

Pozzolan 45μm 25kg

  • Pozzolani 45μm 25kg is currently used in Greece by the cement industry as a main ingredient for the production of cement and as a raw material by the archaeological services for the restoration of important structures of the past such as the Archaeological Site of Nikopolis, the National Library of Athens, many monasteries of Mount Athos, the Panathenaic Stadium etc.
  • The pozzolan of the company Olympos is a volcanic tophos, i.e. an amorphous clay-silicate material.
  • According to measurements of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, the 45μm pozzolan has a specific surface area of 8920cm 2 /g (with the maximum percentage of grains varying between 2-40μm) and an active silica content of more than 50%.
  • These two characteristics give it excellent pozzolanic properties, namely the reaction of the active part of SiO 2 with lime and the formation of hard and durable calc-silicate compounds.
  • The excellent pozzolanic properties of Olympus pozzolan are confirmed by the measurements of Professor Papagianni I. at the Laboratory of Structural Materials of the Department of Civil Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, according to the standard ASTM C593-06 : Flexural strength Compressive strength
  • Active porosity Specific gravity 4,21 MPa 12,58 MPa 21,88 % 1,842
  • The mineralogical structure of the Olympus pozzolan is amorphous to more than 95% (XRD analysis by Mineral Lab Inc. Colorado, USA).
  • Its chemical composition fully meets the requirements of ASTM 618-05 for natural pozzolans for use in concrete as shown in the table below in the XRF analysis carried out by the renowned cement and mortar testing laboratories CTL Illinois, USA.
