Biocalce Zoccolatura by Kerakoll is a certified, eco-friendly, natural base render/plaster (zoccolatura). Made from pure natural hydraulic lime NHL 3.5 (according to EN 459-1) and natural aggregates, it is specifically designed to restore and protect masonry in plinth/skirting zones where rising damp and salt crystallization cause blistering, erosion, and detachment.

Application Instructions

1.Substrate Preparation:Essential step to ensure proper adhesion.

  1. Completely remove old, damaged, or salt-affected plaster up to at least 50 cm above the highest visible damp line.

  2. Clean the surface thoroughly from dust, oil, efflorescence, and loose particles using pressure washing or a wire brush.

  3. Saturate the substrate with water prior to application (ensure no standing water remains).

  4. Apply Biocalce Rinzaffo key coat first to build a bonding bridge and equalize absorption.

2.Mixing:

  1. Mix one 25 kg bag of Biocalce Zoccolatura with clean water (approx. 4.8 - 5.3 liters).

  2. Blend using a low-speed mechanical mixer or free-fall mixer for 3-4 minutes until a smooth, lump-free mortar is achieved.

3.Application & Finishing:

  1. Apply the mortar by trowel or rendering machine to a minimum thickness of 20 mm.

  2. Level the surface using a screed rule.

  3. Allow the material to set slightly, then finish as required (e.g., float with a sponge trowel or coat with a suitable Biocalce breathable skim coat).
